The pro-Russian authorities of Zaporozhye accused the Armed Forces of damaging the highway to the Crimea

The Ukrainian army shelled Vasylivka in Zaporozhye, damaged social infrastructure facilities and part of the Moscow-Simferopol road, say the pro-Russian authorities of part of the region

During the shelling of the city of Vasilyevka in the Zaporozhye region of Ukraine, a section of the Moscow-Simferopol highway was damaged. This was announced to TASS in the military-civilian administration (MCA) of the region, formed by the Russian authorities in the occupied part of the region, in Kyiv it is not recognized.

“The road surface has been damaged. The shell from the projectile is right in the asphalt, — the administration said.

Shooting was carried out by Ukrainian troops, according to the CAA, adding that the shelling caused a fire near a gas station, it was “put out in time.” Ukrainian forces regularly conduct “massive strikes against Vasilyevka,” the region's pro-Russian authorities added. The CAA explains this by the fact that the city is under the control of the Russian army and is close to the line of contact with the territory controlled by Ukrainian forces.

“There are gusts in the power grid, partially restored by the forces of the CAA by the evening. Fragments slashed both residential buildings and social infrastructure facilities, — told the agency in the CAA.

The report of the CAA does not specify the name of the route from Moscow to Simferopol, probably, it is about the M-2 “Crimea” route. It goes from Moscow through Moscow, Tula, Oryol, Kursk, Belgorod regions, then continues along Kharkov, Dnepropetrovsk and Zaporozhye. Then the road goes to a section of the Russian Crimea to the Simferopol highway & mdash; Yalta.

In early May, Crimea reported the restoration of passenger and freight traffic with the Zaporozhye region; cargo traffic was interrupted in the fall of 2015 at the suggestion of Petro Poroshenko, who was then President of Ukraine. “The transport blockade of Crimea, organized by Ukrainian nationalists eight years ago, is a thing of the past,” — Oleg Kryuchkov, adviser to the head of Crimea on information policy, said.
