Bomb threats spark evacuation at Yale University in Connecticut (VIDEO)

Follow RT on Multiple bomb threats were called in simultaneously around the Yale University campus in Connecticut, resulting in students being evacuated from several buildings during an hours-long scare.

A series of law enforcement agencies responded to calls of bombs allegedly planted in campus buildings on Friday afternoon. Buildings including University Theater, Jonathan Edwards College, the Yale Art Gallery and Vanderbilt Hall were evacuated and blocked-off by officers up until the early evening.

Footage circulating online showed a swarm of emergency vehicles on campus at the elite Ivy League school. Apart from local police, the Department of Homeland Security and FBI were involved in the operation, according to a Yale Police Department spokesman.

Just before 7pm local time, however, police gave the all clear, allowing the school to “return to normal operations.” They found the “threat was not credible” around five hours after the initial call, according to the Yale Daily News. The city’s downtown area was declared safe around the same time.
